AdBlock Plus is an extension, which helps you get rid of annoying ads and pop-ups.

Since a big percent of businesses and third-party apps decide to go for online advertising, it is expected to see an occasional ad.

However, the occasional ads and pop-ups are becoming a nuisance lately, since it ruins the experience on the platform.

Additionally, a big percent of the annoying ads may contain malware, which is surely not something you want on your device.

Hence, when you’re enjoying your free time on your Firestick TV, the ads in the ‘Sponsored’ row are surely annoying.

Therefore, an optimal solution for this issue would be installing ad blockers - such as the AdBlock Plus extension, to finally block ads on Firestick TV.

If you’re tired of constantly seeing banner ads, and want to improve the overall experience on your Fire TV device, go through the steps listed below.

What’s AdBlock?

AdBlock is an extension that removers, or alters advertisements on web pages. While the page loads, the AdBlock extension scans the website you’re visiting for any type of content it was created to block - and that’s what it does, it blocks it.

However, since the AdBlock Plus extension only works on browsers, it cannot be installed on your Fire TV as an application.

What can be done, is to either download the AdBlock Browser, or download a different app that has the same properties as the AdBlocker extension, such as the Blokada app.

Whichever of the two options you decide to go for, the step-by-step guides for them are listed below.

  1. Installing AdBlock Browser on the Firestick TV

Installing the AdBlock browser on the Fire Stick TV is not a complicated process, since the app can be found in the App Store.

To install the browser, and start using the app, follow the steps below:

  1. Launch the Fire Stick TV, and from the home screen navigate to the App Store.
  2. Next, since the App Store is divided by categories, you can use them to find the AdBlock Browser faster and easier, or type it in the Search Bar - the magnifying glass icon.
  3. Type in AdBlock Browser, and click on ‘Get’ or ‘Download’.
  4. Further, after downloading and installing it, you can start using the browser as you normally do with all other apps, by clicking on ‘Open’.

Note: Amazon Fire TV is considered as an Android device, where apps can be added and installed. However, since there are plenty of apps that are designed for a touchscreen, you might encounter some apps that may be unavailable for your device.

Hence, apps that are unavailable from the App Store can be installed if you have APK files for them.

To download and install apps from unknown sources (APK files), follow these steps:

  1. On the home screen, click on the ‘Find’ option, and click on ‘Search’.
  2. Next, look for the ‘Downloader’ app, and click on ‘Download’.
  3. Once the app has finished downloading and installing, go back to the home screen, and open the ‘Settings’ menu.
  4. Further, click on ‘My Fire TV’, and click on ‘Developer Options’.

  4. The app will start downloading, wait until it’s downloaded, open it, and click ‘Install’.
  5. After the process is finished, you’ll be asked whether you’d like to remove the downloaded file to free up space from the device, you can click on ‘Delete’.
