Can I somehow take screenshots or screen recordings from Netflix?
The answer is yes, you can. However, making a screenshot of your favorite TV show without getting a black screen, or a notification ‘Couldn’t capture screenshot’ is impossible without an extension. How to take screenshots on Windows
If you use your Windows laptop/Desktop computer to watch Netflix, here’s how to take screenshots:
Installing an extension in Google Chrome - Fireshot
Once you’ve added this extension, it will take screenshots of the entire webpage, and store them on your computer. One of the best features this app has is that you can choose the format of the screenshot you’re taking. Follow these steps:
- If you don’t already have it, install Google Chrome on your laptop.
- Open Google’s Web Store, and in the search bar, type in Fireshot.
- In the right corner, click on “Add to Chrome”.

The next time you need to take a screenshot on Netflix, click on this icon, find “Fireshot” and click on the extension to run it. You will be given options to capture the entire screen, visible part or select which part you want to screenshot. Next, you will be asked which format you need the screenshot to be, and the photo will be stored on your device.
How to take screenshots on Mac
If you’re using your macOS device to watch Netflix, you can add the same extension as Windows users - Fireshot. The process of adding the extension is the same:

The best one for Windows users is Sandbox - it will run your browser through the app, and for macOS users, Apowersoft, which will screenshot anything on your device, so you can forget about restrictions.
Making screenshots in Netflix using a mobile device - iOS or Android
- iPads - iPads have an app in the system named Airshou, which screenshots any screen without any blockages. However, the app is not available on the App Store for iPhone users.
- iPhones - Unfortunately, since Airshou is not available on the App Store, there are currently no available apps to take screenshots without a black screen on an iPhone.
- Android - if you’re using an Android device, download and install XRecorder on your phone - the app can be found on Google Play Store.
