How to Use Pinterest "Try on" Option for Trying Out New Looks

Are you thinking about spicing up your style with a new lipstick shade or makeup look, but you are not really sure if the new style will suit you?

Well, now you can try out new looks with Pinterest’s newest augmented reality feature “Try on”. Try on is a feature designed to enable users to try out new lipstick shades or makeup looks and it is currently being available only in the USA and UK.

For now, users are only available to try on different lipstick shades from brands like Estée Lauder, Sephora, bareMinerals, Neutrogena, L’Oreal, NYX Professional Makeup, YSL Beauté, Lancôme, and Urban Decay.

Furthermore, the “looks” can be also bought right away or be saved as a pin for later.

The company also adds that they celebrate their users, so with the newest feature they won’t come across any filtering options that will make them look less authentic.

Use the Try-on feature with Lens

  1. Log into your Pinterest account
  2. At the bottom of your screen, tap the search icon
  3. At the right of the search bar, tap the camera icon
  4. Tap Try-on in the bottom-right corner
  5. At the top of the screen, tap the lips icon to try on lipstick or tap the eye icon to try on eyeshadow
  6. Select a shade at the bottom of the screen to try it on your face
  1. Log into your Pinterest account
  2. At the bottom of your screen, tap the search icon
  3. Type in a make-up related keyword such as “lipstick” or “eyeshadow” then tap on the search icon on your keypad
  4. Pick a skin tone range
  5. Tap Try on under Try on these looks
  6. At the top of the screen, tap the lips icon to try on lipstick or tap the eye icon to try on eyeshadow
  7. Select a shade at the bottom of the screen to try it on your face

Use try-on feature from an idea on Pinterest

  1. Log into your Pinterest account
  2. Tap on a makeup-related Idea Pin to open it.
  3. Tap the Try on with Lens sticker

Why is Pinterest incorporating this feature?

According to the company’s blog, shoppers mostly turn to Pinterest when it comes to finding and shopping for products compared to other social media. Additionally, they wanted to enable their users to try out new products without being pressured to go to a brick-and-mortar store.
